How to Get Your iPhone to ‘Hear’ the Doorbell, Your Pet, and Other Important Sounds
Do you sometimes miss the doorbell, or a knock at the door, because you're wearing headphones? Not everyone knows this but there's a built-in feature
It's not every day you have the chance to choose your favorite from all of the available AirPods and pick them up at a discount. But that day is today: The older Apple AirPods earbuds and headphone models and the new AirPods 4 are all discounted, with some reaching new record low prices, according to price-checking tools.
If you're not sure which AirPods are the best fit for you, we have a breakdown of all three of the older earbud varieties and some information about the new AirPod 4 here to help make the choice a little easier. (If you want a comparison between the earbud models and the AirPods Max, you can find one here.)
The AirPods Max didn't get many discounts until recently, but now you can get them for as low as $399 if you shop at the right time. Right now they're $449 (originally $549), which historically is a good price, but you can get them for cheaper if you're willing to wait. They were released in 2020, but they are still among the best headphones you can buy if you're in the Apple ecosystem. They also received a recent update with new colors and USB-C connection instead of the lightning port, but those don't get as good of a discount. Read more about them in PCMag's "excellent" review.
The new Apple AirPods 4 came out in September along with many other Apple updates. Even though they just came out, you can already get them for the discounted price of $119 (originally $129). What makes them special is that no longer are the Pro earbuds your only choice for ANC earbuds. They also come with ANC for $168.99 (originally $179). You can read more about them on PCMag's "excellent" review here.
The 2nd Generation AirPods Pro is $199.99 (originally $249). These are great earbuds if you have the cash for them. This newest model, which came out in September 2023, is the first to feature charging via USB-C. They have a few new features, like adaptive transparency, but the change in the charging port is the biggest difference. You can expect solid battery life, with Apple claiming up to 30 hours of listening time on a single charge. They've dropped to $169 before, so get them then if you want to maximize your deal.
The 3rd Generation Apple AirPods have dropped to $119 before, and they're regularly on the $139.99 mark, so get them then for the best price. These earbuds came out in 2021, and you can read more about them in PCMag's "good" review.
The 2nd Generation AirPods are $89.99 (originally $129), but they've dropped to $69 before. These are the oldest of Apple's current AirPods lineup and were released in 2019. They received an "average" review from PCMag, which faulted them for a lack of features. Still, they are a decent entry-level buy.
